How to Draw Manga – with guest artist Yoko Molotov — Yoko Molotov (YokoMolotov.net) is a published manga artist who also maintains a series of web mangas on her website. You can visit her site to see examples of her work. Yoko can show you some easy ways to learn how to draw and publish your own creative works! You will be able to ask questions and learn more about the differences in preparing your work for print vs. online distribution. Yoko will also be going over the basic ‘how to’ steps of drawing anime characters and the toning process.


Shoujo Slumber Party — Join us in the Hospitality Suite for a night of watching old school shoujo anime & fun games! We’ll have snacks and drinks available in the room during the event. *if you have your pet hedgehog with you at the show you are welcome to bring hedgies to this event!


The Anime Gourmet — In this panel we will have a cooking demo of some basic anime fan favorites including rice balls, custard, & sushi! Our chef will show you how to make some of your favorite Japanese goodies at home and also provide you with a list of places in the DFW area where you can find some of the best cooking supplies & snacks!


Cosplay Tea Party – ($5 per person cash @ door.) — The Cosplay Tea Party will be an event catered by the Southfork Hotel. There will be a tea and coffee service with some sweets available. Wear your Cosplay costumes! We will be observing a social hour and holding a contest that will be open to group vote to present awards to some of the best costumes. This is a fun way to learn more from your fellow Cosplayers as we go around tables telling personal tips and experiences in the wonderful world of Cosplay!


Cel Painting - ($3 per person cash @ door.) — In the years before computers and up until not too very long ago; cartoons were made by painting on celluloid. Although this process is no longer widely used cel animation art has become a treasured collectible. Many galleries around the world display and sell el art as more and more people look to posses actual pieces of their favorite shows from back in the day! We will supply the supplies for you and a real guest animator will demonstrate for you some of the basic points of painting your own cels while we discuss a bit of the part that cels once played in the animation & film industry world wide.


Autograph Panels — There will be a series of autograph panels daily at the show where you will have a chance to get the autographs of our guest bands and voice actors. There is no fee for autographs but you must bring whatever you wish to have signed with you, photos or other materials to have signed will not be provided.


HEDGEHOG 101 - Hosted by guest Jennifer Thedford, DVM — Veterinarian Jennifer Thedford will host an educational presentation on pet African Pygmy Hedgehogs. This presentation will also include an audience Q&A session at the end where you can ‘ASK THE VET’ anything you want to about pet hedgehogs. Dr. Thedford has 3 pet hedgehogs of her own (One was the Reserve Best of Show at the 2009 DFW Hedgehog Show, the other two are adopted rescues.) and is an expert in the care of small exotic pets in the DFW area. She does a lot of work with the North American Hedgehog Society’s rescue efforts providing pay and neuter services and medical care to the rescued hedgies of the DFW area.
