(Las Colinas) - Summer in Las Colinas is always exciting and the city hosts many colorful and
multi-cultural events. From Dragon Boat Racing and live theater to charity events, celebrity visits
and the HP Byron Nelson Golf Championship, there is no doubt Las Colinas is one of the hottest
places in north Texas. And theBURB promotes as many of those events as it can so that all of
you may experience this big city atitude in the suburbs. The next generation of suburban lifestyle
will be to have it all - right down the street.
As you can see reflected in this issue, May was a bit amazing.... Dan Aykroyd stopped in
town and thought it would be cool to bartend at Champps, Prince Edward paid a royal visit to
some lucky boy scouts and Kevin Fowler took the stage at The Ranch to wrap up the party we
locals call “Byron Week”.
All month long there are exhibits at the Arts Center, plays on the Lyric Stage and parties on the
polo field....yes, polo. Big green field, white outfits, beautiful horses and women, you know,
polo! This is the place where movies and television projects are filmed on location or at the
Studios at Las Colinas. Hot late night salsa dancing heats up after hours, live bands rock the
house on the canals and the food and cocktails available compete with any urban city. We are a
comunity that supports 3 Sympanies, 3 stages and 6 galleries and still go watch the Dallas
Cowboys train at their facility in Valley Ranch.
Now, I have not taken the time to write an editorial column, maybe ever, in this paper. Nor do
I think I will in the future. But, I’d like to take the liberty in this edition to address you, the reader,
with our purpose. It’s simple. theBURB captures the personality of the se suburbs, focusing on
the developement of the Las Colinas area and surounding sister cities. We want everyone to be
informed about what goes on here today, and reveal the potential this area holds for the future. We
provide both entertainment information and city business news to give you a cross section of
community interests. This IS Las Colinas. Valley Ranch. Coppell. Carrollton.....
